About Morse Code Decoder

Overview

The Morse Code Decoder translates International Morse code back into readable text. Paste your dots and dashes, and the tool splits the input on letter and word boundaries to reconstruct the original text. Unknown Morse groups are replaced with a question mark and listed in a warning so you can spot transcription errors. All processing runs in your browser — your input never leaves your device.

FAQ

What format should my Morse code be in?

Single spaces between letters, and a slash ( / ) or three or more spaces between words. Most Morse code you find online follows this convention and will work without cleanup.

What does "?" in the output mean?

A question mark means a Morse group was not found in the International Morse alphabet. The group is listed in the warning below the output so you can check for transcription errors.

Why does the tool reject my input?

The decoder only accepts dots, dashes, spaces, and slashes. If your input contains letters, digits, or other characters, use the Morse Code Encoder instead.
